Yoga is a word that’s used to do describe the state in which one’s mind, body, and soul exist together as one (in unison). It is the only form of art that helps you attract all the positive vibrations that surround you and let go of the negative energy that’s inside you. With people being constantly stressed about life, yoga offers to calm their mind and soothes their body.  One can perform Yoga in the morning, evening or before going to sleep. Practicing yoga at least three times a week has been said to have a positive impact on both professional and personal lives of people. Constant practice along with the urge to attain that inner peace is the mantra of becoming an expert.

Health Benefits of YOGA ASANAS

The various body positions that you tend to stay in while performing yoga are called “Asanas”. Numerous asanas exist with various benefits for each part of the body. Regular practice helps one maintain a flexible body. Performing asanas helps in the regulation of blood flow throughout the body. At the end of a yoga session, people are often found to have been enlightened both physically and spiritually. The most famous asana is the “Padmasana” – performed by sitting in a lotus-like position with repeated cycles of inhalation and exhalation.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is a form of physical yoga which involves the movement of all body parts. This is an old form of yoga which is widely performed by yogis. The word “Hatha” translates into the “Sun(Ha)” and “Moon(Tha)”- which basically means that this yoga is practiced to balance the sun and the moon present in you. People often tend to stay in certain physical positions while performing Hatha yoga. Pranayama, a set of breathing exercises is also performed along with the asanas.

Kriya Yoga

Kriya yoga, unlike Hatha Yoga, involves controlling the mind while the body is in a relaxed state. Meditation paves the way to the spiritual path that lays ahead at the end of the tunnel. This yoga requires the guidance of a Yoga Guru and has no preparatory classes or texts. Asanas, pranayama, and mantras are combined and taught to those who seek knowledge about this form of yoga. Kriya yoga helps you increase your concentration, wisdom, mental and physical health and also in exploring the tiny energy packets, which leads to a more sophisticated and spiritual body.

Surya Namaskar Yoga Asana

Surya Namaskar roughly translates into ” Saluting the Sun”. This comprises of 12 asanas that are highly beneficial when performed during sunrise. These are also considered to be excellent cardiovascular exercises. It takes only 15 to 20 minutes to perform Surya Namaskar. Surya Namaskar helps in flexibility, strengthening the immune system and improving the cardiovascular system. The 12 asanas are as follows-

Pranamasana, Hastauttanasana, Hastapadasana, Ashwa Sanchalasana, Dandasana, Ashtanga Namaskara, Bhujangasana, Adho Muka Svanasana, Ashwasanchalasana, Hastapadasana, Hastauttanasana and Tadasana ( in this particular order).

Even though Yoga requires an instructor, it can be easily done at home. It is important to set up a routine and a particular space at your home for practicing yoga. Videos and blogs are available on the internet for people to practice yoga at home. One should choose a space that is peaceful and quite spacious. Begin your practice by warming up the body. The asanas should be done slowly, step by step and not hastily. Perform yoga in an empty stomach to achieve the best results.

Perform yoga to be fit as a fiddle and to lead a happy life.

YOGA STEPS  Beginners should perform yoga under the guidance of a yoga expert, as even minute mistakes can lead to serious problems. One should warm themselves up before practicing yoga, as this loosens the body and makes it flexible. The following asanas are a must when it comes to beginners: Adho Mukha Svanasana, Tadasana, Uthitta Ashwa Sanchalanasana, Trikonasana, Padmasana, Siddhasana, Khumbakhasana, Paschimottasana, etc. At the end of every yoga session, “Shavasana” or “The corpse yoga” should be performed at the end to relax oneself.

Yoga anatomy basically refers to the study of energy quantum present at various levels of the body. Yoga anatomy helps in understanding the physical structure of the human body and which part benefits when an asana is performed. Yoga, unlike exercises, helps in conserving energy. It is because of this quality that one often finds oneself to be calm and more energetic at the end of a session. Yoga can be done to correct various parts of the human anatomy, like the spinal cord (posture), liver, lungs (breathing), kidney, uterus, ovaries, etc.
