As per the reports suggests Australia has demanded the investigation of the source of origin of Coronavirus in China, and they have responded pretty strongly. In response to Australia’s demand, China’s ambassador Cheng Jingye has threatened Australians that if they push for an investigation that could lead to a boycott of trade of Australian products and travel. China’s ambassador also added that he is ready for an independent inquiry into the matter, but if Australia pushes for investigation, then it could be dangerous for them.
China Threatens Australia Over Trade When Asked For Investigation
The United States of America has been on the same boat of Australians for a long time now, where they demand an investigation of the origin of Coronavirus in China. Both the countries are keen on investigating how a virus in a local area turned into an epidemic and killed more than Two Lakh People globally.
Cheng Jingye, Chinese ambassador during an Interview with Australian Financial Review
“The Chinese public is frustrated, dismayed, and disappointed with what Australia is doing now,” he claimed in an interview with the Australian Financial Review published on Sunday.
“If the mood is going from bad to worse, people would think ‘why should we go to such a country that is not so friendly to China?’ The tourists may have second thoughts,” he added.
“It is up to the people to decide. Maybe the ordinary people will say ‘Why should we drink Australian wine? Eat Australian beef?'”
According to the experts, the reason why China is not allowing the investigation in their Country is it will give the world a chance to scrutinize the rulers of China for the handling of their crisis. And China’s ruler will not be able to handle the criticism for the Coronavirus crisis. Since, both the parties are stick on their agendas that could lead to the tensions between Beijing and Canberra.
Cheng in the interview also included that Australians are using language United States and claimed that these countries are just pointing to us because they couldn’t resolve their problems on time. On concluding, he also affirmed that Australians always make trouble, and they are like chewing gum stuck under China’s Shoes.
With China not allowing Australia for Investigation regarding Coronavirus, Prime Minister of Australia- Scott Morrison has pleaded member nations of the World Health Organisation(WHO) for a meeting regarding the investigation of the origin of Coronavirus. He also emphasized that Australia will be supporting the investigation matter in the meeting, which is to be held on 17th May 2020.
Now it will be interesting to see how things pan out for both the countries as China and Australia has crucial financial ties with each other. It could help both countries to recover financially in the situation of the pandemic. China is Australia’s largest trading partner, and as Jinge said, Chinese may boycott the Australian exports, it will be a massive loss for the Country. Nonetheless, the tourism industry will be heavily impacted if China boycott’s Australia’s trade and services.
